Healing is the “science of love,” as Therese of Lisieux framed it. Because all healing comes from God, and God is relationship, we are healed in the measure that we know God intimately. We cannot love God when other things are prioritized over our time and attention. We cannot know Him if we are not consciously connecting to Him. We cannot expect to experience His unconditional love while holding a bag of conditions.
How do we consciously connect to Him when we cannot hear or feel Him? As all the saints and sages assert, we LOVE in silent meditation and contemplation.
As St. Augustine said, “the end of the Scriptures is love”: L-listen; O-observe; V-verbalize; E-entrust.

Where do you need more healing? Where do you need discipline and fervency in prayer? What do you want to say to Him about that?
V | Verbalize (Pray about your thoughts and emotions.)
Tell Him. Tell Him everything in your heart right now. Take the risk, and ask Him to help you in your neediness.
Remembering that He loves you and that you are in His presence, talk to God about the particulars of your O – Observe step. You may want to write your reflections in your LOVE the Word® journal. Or, get a free journal page and guide in the right-hand margin.
