Perhaps a negative view of the human body has been construed from St. Paul’s remarks about “crucifying the flesh.” But Paul is simply pointing out that the flesh fell with the soul in the Garden, must be restored, and will be elevated even higher to the image of Christ. Jesus reveals the Gospel of the Body.
“Only in reference to the human person in his ‘unified totality’, that is, as ‘a soul which expresses itself in a body and a body informed by an immortal spirit’, can the specifically human meaning of the body be grasped. Indeed, natural inclinations take on moral relevance only insofar as they refer to the human person and his authentic fulfilment, a fulfilment which for that matter can take place always and only in human nature” (Veritatis Splendor, JPII). Man’s fulfillment takes place in his body.

Precious Blood of Jesus, flow through me. Mary, Mother of Divine Love, take the Precious Blood of Jesus to the throne of God, the Father, and offer it in sweet humble adoration, then send it back flowing by the Holy Spirit as a healing of body, mind, heart, and soul. Grant me complete and total healing as I cooperate with you, Lord Jesus, in the healing of my soul and body as you direct. Amen. +
